Things to do on the Beach

We took the girls to Siesta Key for our summer vacation. It was Heidi's first time to see the ocean, and Liddy's first time that she'll remember. She was overly concerned about sharks and creatures until she realized everything was okay until you went the deep. However, (my dear sensitive child) did rub her foot on a dead fish that scared her from getting back in for awhile. She made the best of it, and decided to have a tribal burial for him on the beach. Notice he's covered in sea grass too. We also found a string ray...at least part of one...on our morning beach walk. Here we are encouraging Jeff to grab it with the only thing available, his sandal! Most of the cool "creatures" we found were on the Turtle Beach at the end our island. I never did find any big shells or conch shells, however I can not be forced awake for a morning walk before 8 a.m. (which I hear is necessary to find the good stuff!)

Other favorite beach activities included chasing birds, sifting shells (and looking for crabs) with our net and burying naughty kids in the sand!
